Inspiration and some relatives (who helped watching after my toddler) have recently visited me, so I didn’t hesitate to pick up a brush and fill some canvases. Being in my parents’ garden on a warm and sunny day is the most enjoyable pastime, so I painted everything that caught my eye there. I saw some beautiful irises, what an unusual maroon color.
I rushed to paint them before their blooming time was over…
Then I was onto some yellow lilies…
And this is a shot of the finished piece after I worked on it some more the next day—which version do you like? Sometimes I like my “underworked” pieces a tad better.
We’re having a nice crop of strawberries, with lots to eat and to make homemade jam—scattered on a window sill, it was a great subject for a painting.
Once in a while little helpers (my daughter and her cousin) critique my paintings and make a brush stroke or two.
I also did is a sketch of an apple tree in the garden; too bad I won’t be here when apples are ripe…apple is by far my favorite fruit since I grew up with lots of these trees growing in our yard.
Well, that’s it so far…I still have a few more canvases to fill, but I am sure they won’t stay blank for too long.
