The past few days have been rainy and cool, just like it’s (unfortunately) expected to be in Latvia at this time of year. As I said, weather can be really unstable here in June—high 80s and sunny just a couple of days ago, and now we need a warm jacket and an umbrella to get around. So we don’t get stir crazy, we’ve been bundling up and making some short outdoor excursions, until our noses turn red and cold that is. We definitely include my parents’ vegetable garden in our route. This place is very peaceful, and I am amazed how everything is sprouting there despite this cold weather! Here are some pictures of the delicious and fresh lettuce, leeks, and radishes...yum!

And look at this lettuce...

We chop all the veggies up and mix with a dollop of sour cream for a wonderfully fresh and vitamin-filled salad. M-m-good!
The strawberry bushes are blooming—can’t wait till the berries come in and are ready to eat.

And here's my daughter partaking in some yard work--she loves digging in the dirt.

I’ve gathered my first bouquet of lilac, and I hope to get some painting done today. Perfect pastime when you’re stuck indoors; I will let you know how it works out.
