My attempts to keep a blog after my return from Latvia have been futile—well, there is nothing like another fresh start. Let’s see…New school year’s schedule is taking some time getting used to; I have great students though, and I hope to have a fun year with them. My AP art students had a summer sketchbook assignment, and one of them did an amazing job with it—check out this wild cover! This girl has some talent and no fear.
I have been having a great time with my family—trying to get some time in nearby parks (we go for an hour before they close, fewer people and much lower temperatures!). It is hard to enjoy outdoors here in Florida at this time of year. Last weekend we chanced to get out for a lunch picnic in a splash park with some friends, which went great as we were lucky to have a cloudy sky and a shady table.
I have not picked up a paint brush since my trip to Latvia (sigh!), but I have had plenty of fun painting with my daughter. Here’s she working on her latest potato stamp creation.
Today I printed some reference photos for my future paintings—going to get some canvases tomorrow, and I hope to get started soon.
