LandscapeThe majority of my landscapes come from my observations during travel; I make on-location sketches if possible or take photos from which I later work in my studio. I usually exaggerate the colors found in nature and emphasize the mood brought on by the interaction of lights and shadows. I especially enjoy painting trees- no two trees are exactly alike, and they attract me with their unique shapes and silhouettes. Still LifeI have done many observational still life paintings throughout my studies in Art College, which gives me an opportunity to envision the objects without actually having them in front of me. Many of my pieces come from my imagination, and some are done from direct observation. No matter the source of my inspiration, I always exaggerate the colors making them more vibrant and luminous. WaterscapeI enjoy observing the play of light on water during different times of day and how it creates beautiful shimmering reflections in a variety of colors. I bring these impressions into my waterscape paintings. FigurativeI rarely work from life on my figurative pieces; I use sketches done from a model or just my imagination. Color, as in all of my pieces, plays a very important role in my compositions. AnimalsThe subject of horses attracts me the most. The sense of freedom in these animals makes it exciting for me to paint them. I use wild, vibrant colors and allot of motion in order to best show their nature. Parrots are another subject that engages me - their feathers in an array of bright colors make them a perfect inspiration for my pieces. |
