FloralThe floral motifs are mostly created from life and some from my personal photos. I grew up around luscious flower gardens in my parents’ house, and my first art studies of plants were created there. I love making floral watercolor sketches, and I think that the fluidity and spontaneity of this medium suits the subject well. LandscapesThe majority of my watercolor landscapes are done plein air, when I paint on location. While I can still use the same vibrant hues as in my oil paintings, watercolors dry faster and are easier to work with when traveling. Some of the watercolor sketches get re-worked in my studio and are used as a reference for large, long-term oil pieces. |
